The Standard Package Part II: Partial Recall, 2008
I scanned the first ever professional studio portrait that my parents had commissioned when I was a toddler then submitted it to seven different online re-touchers who specialised in beauty and/or pageant makeovers. My request was the same ’please can you do a pageant makeover.’ They are all intended to be ready for competitive entry. Six very different final images were returned, I had one rejection, where the retoucher said they could not beautify me!
The six images are presented as a canvas box framed prints, as a way of playing with the belief that canvas raises the status of image.
